How Much Money Can You Actually Make From Internet Marketing?

When it comes to affiliate internet marketing, one of the most common questions is this: How much money can you actually make from it? This really isn't surprising considering that while there are  people who claim to be making tens of thousands of dollars, if not millions from the Internet, there are people who are struggling to make any kind of sale online.

So, how much money can you really make from the Internet? Well, that really depends on several factors. Read below to know what they are:



1. Niche

Not all niches are created alike and while there are niches that are “evergreen” or will always be in high season, there are niches that are seasonal in nature. Products related to health, making money and love are evergreen and will always sell. Physical products like digital cameras and baby stuff are also evergreen. Christmas trees, on the other hand, are obviously seasonal in nature.

Whatever you do, if you are intent on making money from the Internet, always go for products that are consistent bestsellers, otherwise you will struggle.

2. Marketing method

There are several ways to market things online, including advertising on ad networks, and search engine  information marketing, also known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). We can't say this enough, but mastery of any marketing method is CRITICAL to your success online because it's how you reach out to potential buyers of the products you're promoting.

SEO is free but it takes time to get ranked and earn money. On the other hand, you could lose a lot of money by advertising here and there on the different ad networks, but then you could have your first sale 24 hours after posting an ad. There is no right or wrong way to market things online. However, here's one piece of advice from us: Choose on method and stick to it until you master it and make a full-time income from it. Too often, simply wet their feet in one method and are too impatient at honing their skill and end up jumping from one thing to another. And they wonder why they never make any money.


3. Pre-selling

If you think that affiliate internet marketing is about selling, you're wrong. It's all about warming up people to the idea that your product can greatly benefit them. So, whether you're writing copy for ad campaigns or writing content for your website, always talk in terms of how a product can benefit them. Also, do not exaggerate on your claims. People are not stupid and they can “smell” if you're just trying to sell them things.

The best Internet Marketers respect the intelligence of their audience, and so they get love in return in the form of brisk sales.

You too can excel in affiliate internet marketing, you just need to remember the points we wrote above.  Affiliate internet marketing is not rocket science. It's really a lot like Math, that is, if you do this plus this, you get this result.

While the Internet has made it a lot easier for people to make a start in business, it is still worth making sure that you maximise your potential as a businessperson by having all of the possible tools you could need to get things up and running. In order to start, you need comparatively little compared with a bricks and mortar business – but the better equipped you are, the more possibilities you can turn into something definite.

A computer and an Internet connection are obviously the base minimum. As you are reading this, you have access to those at least. It is then a matter of what you need to add to these. If you want to put photographs of yourself or things that you are selling onto the Internet, you will need either a digital camera (preferable) or a scanner (just about acceptable). You will also need somewhere to put the photographs – a website (which requires you to buy webspace) or a blog (which does not). A website offers more options for customization, so if you have the know-how to do this, it is preferable.

To sell things at the click of a button you can ask your bank to set up a business account with scope to take electronic payments, or you can open an eBay account. Using eBay you will be able to auction items or services off to the highest bidder, and receive payments almost instantly through PayPal. The benefits of having the Internet mean that you can do all of this from a chair just in front of your computer.

The short list of items mentioned above may seem obvious to many, but for a lot they can be cumbersome and scary to work with or get started. One should also have a solid idea about what they want to do online and how they want to market. Some may prefer to solely market online while others want the ability to work on and off online. Email Woes...

Lately I have been asked if  I'm against Email because I work with a Mobile Marketing company that emphasizes "SMS Text Marketing" as a key, emerging means of connecting and communicating with customers or team members.



Not true.

Key word here: "emphasize"

What I really emphasize is strategic combination of three things:

1. SMS Text Marketing -- this is, by far, the most direct path to your customer on their most cherished device. You HAVE to be here.

2. Direct mail -- it is very powerful to communicate offline and off the mobile device from time to time. It's an intimate connection. Remember how great good old fashioned letters made you feel? (and probably still do)

3. Email -- An obvious, awesome means of "mass communication" and a way to quickly get great content direct to someone's inbox. BUT...

And a BIG but...

#3 has some major, major issues right now. And it is THE one used the most, almost exclusively by those who struggle the most. FYI.

Email Woes...

 One in every seven "opt in" emails directed to "opt in" recipients never made it to them, in the first 6-months of 2013. That's 15% NOT even getting there. At least 30% of the 85% delivered  are deleted or unread.

 The Email trend is very negative. And will not improve.

Why Number One is Bad

The Most Dangerous Number In Business


…Is ONE.

ONE income stream.

ONE product or service.

And the biggie…

ONE means of “communication” with your prospects and customers.

Today, over 95% of business owners and entrepreneurs ONLY communicate with their prospects and customers by Email alone. However, a growing number of people now prefer SMS Text Marketing over Email, and still, a good amount even prefer regular mail over Email.

So, if quality communication is the KEY to sales and marketing, which we know it is, why do so many put all their eggs in one basket and choose to communicate only ONE way, and not diversify? It’s smart to have an Email strategy as Email is a powerful media. But it’s NOT smart to use Email alone and not have a diversified communication approach in your business.

You wouldn’t buy one stock in your portfolio and never look to add another would you? Of course not! No smart investor would. It’s no different in business communication.

I was taught early on that: “diversity leads to stability.”

For me, it’s actually a turn off and communicates, “this person is a lazy, unsophisticated leader in their field.” And to me, that’s usually a good indication of what their product or service will deliver…

…Well, that is just something to think about.

That tells me a lot about them. And their business. It translates “intelligence” and “thoroughness” – two qualities everyone wants from a business.

Are You An "Inbox Wimp"?

I just read a cool direct response marketing study about an Aquarium that was promoting it's new aquatic show to the public, and what they did was the ultimate split test from their TV commercials.
1. They asked half the viewers to go to a website to enter a contest for free VIP tickets
2. They asked the other half to text the word "fox" (the TV channel) to their mobile short code (ex: 12345)
The TV ad with the SMS Text call-to-action generated 325% more contest entries than the website call-to-action.
One word: Wow
In a world where business owners and marketers are still trying to stuff as many Email messages into someone's inbox, the truly smart business owners are swiftly shifting to a more "one-to-one" connection with their prospects and customers - SMS Text.
It's lazy and wimpy to use Email alone as a communication channel. Don't be a wimp. Anyone can send a free Email. Plus, Email deliverability rates and open rates have fallen off a cliff in the past 12-months. It's a nightmare actually. Most are too ignorant to look at the real numbers.
